CPF Controller

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Controller is a hands-on position. He/she will be a critical member of the team and a key contributor in the support of CPF and its affiliate organizations.  We are looking for at least 5 years of leading the accounting and financial reporting experience, BS in Accounting, detail oriented and CPA licensed candidate to work in a fast-paced multi-faceted organization where meeting deadlines and accountability are part of the culture and success.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

For multiple entities: 

  • Reports to the Director of Finance.
  • Plans, oversees and coordinates accounting functions and programs ensuring accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple, small to mid-sized organizations
  • Prepares and reviews financial statements and consolidated financial statements prepared in full compliance with appropriate GAAP standards.
  • Creates and reviews financial statement supporting schedules.
  • Reviews other periodic financial and management reports.
  • Coordinates activities of internal and external auditors.
  • Prepares and reviews annual audit preparation works. Investigates and resolves audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance.
  • Reviews annual tax returns.
  • Prepares and reviews reports for statutory and compliance filing. Performs and reviews financial and management analyses.
  • Conducts and reviews research on compliance issues in relation to accounting, taxation, audit, payroll, and employee benefits.
  • Participates in the annual budget development process and initiates and recommends budget changes and adjustments.
  • Assesses current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes.
  • Maintains accounting and internal control systems.
  • Ability to supervise 3-5 individuals.
  • Provides training to the Senior Accountant and other Accounting Staff.
  • Performs and manages special financial projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
  • California Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
  • 5(+) years of experience leading the accounting and financial reporting duties and working knowledge of tax laws and GAAP.
  • Not-for-Profit experience preferred.
  • Labor organization experience is required
  • Strong PC skills; excellent knowledge/skills of Excel, PowerPoint and other MS applications.
  • Strong database knowledge and skills (e.g. ERP system, MS access), knowledge of Oracle NetSuite preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize accounting functions and duties and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and achieve timely and accurate results.
  • Self-driven, highly organized, detail oriented.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all financial information.

Salary range: 120-130k/year
