The briefing book will contain summaries and key points for all CPF sponsored and co-sponsored legislation, the same bills you will be actively lobbying on during the conference. In order to lobby effectively, conference participants are being asked to familiarize themselves with these bills in advance of their legislative visits.
CPF’s legislative agenda for the 2023-2024 session includes some of the most pressing topics facing our membership today, including ambulance patient offload time, community paramedicine, and workers’ compensation. These important issues impact not only the fire service but all of California, and no one tells your stories or shares the importance of these topics better than you.
Your elected representatives need to hear from you on these issues. Schedule your legislative appointments today.
SCHEDULE MEETINGS WITH YOUR LEGISLATORS HERE
The afternoon of Tuesday, May 2nd, is being set aside for legislative visits with your representatives in their Capitol offices. Don't wait…make those appointments today! Meetings are best scheduled between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM. Legislators’ calendars fill up quickly, so to maximize your time and your legislator’s schedule, we recommend that you coordinate meetings with other locals in your Assembly or Senate districts.
When you call Capitol offices to schedule meetings, ask for the legislator's scheduler and mention that you are calling in conjunction with the CPF's Legislative Conference. If the scheduler is unavailable, leave a message, remembering to get the scheduler's name so that you may follow up with him or her if you do not receive a call back within two or three days.
